Is school coming between you and your child?

Are you frustrated with the demands that school puts on your family? Perhaps you find yourself passing that frustration onto your child? Are they drained or miserable when they come home? Is there little to no time for your child to explore their passions and interests outside of school? Or connect with family and friends?

Unschool! Perhaps you’ve never considered homeschooling…or maybe you have considered it, but you’re sure it can’t work for your family.

What if I told you that you CAN homeschool your child with minimal change to your lifestyle? And that making that decision can make all the difference for you AND your child?

Hi, I’m Kristen and I thought I would always be a public school teacher. I felt sure my own children would attend public school and thrive like I did as a child. I believed, strongly, in the public school system.

That is…until my own child began school.

It wasn’t long before I noticed her struggling and changing.

She struggled with many of the expectations of school.

Nightly homework brought conflict and tears. Many tears. From both of us. And she was only in Kindergarten! How could we keep this up for years to come?!

But we persisted and continued into first grade. At times, it felt like we were figuring it out. I was a teacher for crying out loud…I should be able to support my child through school!

There were a few calls regarding concerns about her behavior…was it her? Or was it the school expectations that were the problem?

We tried a new school for 2nd grade. One where her dad worked…it would be good for her to have him close by!

The social issues continued to creep in for my sensitive girl.

Next, we tried virtual school. This was better, but it also gave us the chance to really evaluate what she was learning.

Outside the struggles, I also noticed that my once vibrant and happy child was losing her spark.

And I suddenly realized…

I no longer believed in our public school system the way I once had. In fact, I began to really see ALL of the discrepancies between my own values as a parent and the way the school system operates.

There was just no alignment there!

It was time to try something new…so we embarked on a fresh journey that brought connection and success!

And you can too!

As a former teacher turned unschool mom, I’m here to tell you that you CAN homeschool your child! And you can do it joyfully!

It won’t require:

  • A teaching degree

  • Making a huge lifestyle change (unless you want to)

  • Spending tons of money on fancy curriculum

  • Rewards and punishments

To be clear, this is NOT for parents who:

  • Value their children’s academic achievements over their mental well-being

  • Believe school grades are the best way to measure success

  • View public schools as a safe place

But, this will be a great fit if you:

  • Love your child and want to see them thrive

  • Believe all children grow and develop on their own timeline

  • Have tried many things that don’t work and are ready for something that DOES work

Don’t wait until summer is over and you’re facing another year of hectic schedules, repetitive homework, and miserable children! Let’s get you started on a path to happier children AND parents!
